Info

What a ride. Ten years ago it began as a decidedly grandiose idea. Since then it has firmly established itself as the focal point for ambitious bass and sound-system‑driven club music, uncompromising and free of genre boundaries. Ten years of Blurred Vision means ten years of club shows, block parties, festivals, and touring across half of Europe. Lots of bass, little sleep. There are many stories: from spontaneous wall breaches in clubs or mischief with the friendly Swiss customs, to Boiler Room 2016, the Krach Parade trucks crisscrossing the city center, or crowds in the hundreds outside the venue in Berlin. Guests such as Kode9, Bambii, Halfqueen, Skee Mask, Sicaria, DJ Travella, Meg10, and many more. From the many magical moments on the dancefloor. But let’s focus: a room, a mighty sound system, and carefully curated acts for the club community. Blurred Vision at the Ampere in Munich.

Mala is an international phenomenon. With his London-based DMZ crew, he helped give birth to dubstep even before the scene had a name. With his Deep Medi label, for 20 years at the forefront of bass-weighted club music and its evolution. With tracks like “Changes,” forever rooted in the DNA of modern music history. Always on the lookout for new basslines, artists, and sounds beyond the hype and the surface. Collaborations with, among others, Sade, James Blake, Grace Jones, Idris Elba and Moritz von Oswald; Mala certainly has no sound blinders. That he’s coming to Blurred Vision in Munich to spin in an intimate setting on a proper rig, despite the current Renaissance of dubstep, is a statement in itself.

Let’s make it quick: Jakob and Bene. As a duo for almost 20 years, they have been guarantors of bass in Munich and pillars of the city’s active club scene. Globally networked, with important impulses and guests on board, whether from Mexico, Uganda, the UK or New Orleans. Always curious and open to new sounds beyond the surface, as long as they have a soul and a groove.

No Blurred Vision without Elemental Wave, the sound system blasts away everything with its punchy, dry and deep bass and can measure up to the best sounds in Europe. The club’s own Dub Selection goes strong; arriving early is worth it.

A back-to-back set by two of the most active and exciting DJs in Munich’s bass scene: die_ley straight from the Yallah Bassment and Cosimoto from everyone’s favorite D&B crew Time Tripping. Together it can only be good and will likely go until dawn.

From Juicy Dancehall to all things club, the multi-headed BBS DJ collective rules as always when they’re not curating stages at the Komod Festival or dropping by Ritournelle Festival.

This event is funded by the Cultural Office of the City of Munich.
