On 18 September 2026, corto.alto lands at Rough Trade Bristol for a stripped-back live set followed by a signing session, marking the release of the new album Some Small Fortune on Ninja Tune. Behind the name is Scottish composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Liam Shortall, who moves easily between contemporary jazz and beat-driven music, with a sound that pulls from electronic production, hip-hop swing and soul warmth without losing the space and edge of improvisation.
Expect the focus to be on the songs and the playing: tight grooves, brass lines that cut through, and that balance between live energy and studio craft that’s become his signature. It’s a chance to hear the new material up close, in a more intimate format than a full-scale show, then meet the artist afterward with the album fresh in hand.
