Super Friendz presents Tommy Barlow
Raised in Cambridge in a very musical family, Tommy Barlow was trained through contact with traditional British folk, with references such as Flook or Michael McGoldrick, before moving to London to study electronic music at the Guildhall. In his work, this dual culture is reflected in tracks where field recordings, guitar, strings, samples, vocals and, at times, bagpipes intersect, in a writing that combines folk, electronic music and experimental pop without settling into a single register.
His approach combines acoustic textures and sound editing with particular attention to atmospheres and production details, in a vein that can evoke both intimate forms and more repetitive constructions. In 2024, Tommy Barlow releases the self-produced mixtape Mustard Seeds, which gives a clear overview of his creative process and accompanies his gradual installation on the London scene. He then performs regularly in venues such as The George Tavern, Shacklewell Arms and Spanners, and also appears alongside bands such as RIP Magic, Ebbb and Quade, placing his career within an independent network where songwriting, experimentation and alternative music meet.
