Merced, California’s 60juno brings a Central Valley take on post-punk and DIY indie-rock, built on thick nostalgia and those deep, dreamy melodies that stick around after the last chord. Shaped by the mid-2010s Southern California DIY wave and the SoundCloud-era energy of underground rap, the project started in a bedroom during 2020 quarantine, with 60juno handling everything himself: bass, drums, guitar, and vocals.
On record, he pushes the usual wistful shimmer of indie-rock into rougher territory, swapping softness for momentum and laying low, gritty vocals over bright, chiming lines. The result sits somewhere between hazy pop instinct and a more nervous, driving post-punk pulse, with the kind of handmade immediacy that feels lived-in rather than polished.
