Buzzcocks emerged in Manchester in 1976 and early showed how punk could fuse with pop melodies and concise, direct songs. With their DIY statement Spiral Scratch and classics like Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve) or What Do I Get? they helped shape a songwriting approach that is fast, sharp, and still catchy — choruses you can sing along to, guitars that push the music forward, and lyrics that lean more toward desire, doubt, and everyday pressures than toward pose.
After the death of singer and co-founder Pete Shelley in 2018, Steve Diggle kept the band going and took over the vocals. Live, that remains the core: short tracks without ballast, tempo changes, hooks that land, and that distinctive Buzzcocks drive between punk edge and power-pop. On September 5, 2026, Buzzcocks will play the Astra Kulturhaus in Berlin — with an eye to the future, new songs such as those on Attitude Adjustment, and enough material to span almost five decades of the band's history in one go.
