Info
On February 10, 2027, at Metronome in Nottingham, Tom Browne brings his Jazz-Funk and R&B groove back onstage for the “Funkin’ For Jamaica” 2027 Tour, joined by The Brit Funk Association. A Queens, New York trumpeter with a sound built for both improvisation and the dancefloor, Browne broke through at the end of the 70s with Browne Sugar, before scoring a global hit with “Funkin’ For Jamaica (N.Y.)” in 1980, still a go-to track for DJs. From there came a run of club-ready classics like “Thighs High (Grip Your Hips and Move)”, “Fungi Mama”, “Let’s Dance” or “Bye Gones”, and a discography that’s kept evolving across jazz-funk, boogie and contemporary soul, with recent material like the single “Impulse”.
On the same bill, The Brit Funk Association gathers key players from the UK scene, with alumni of Beggar & Co, Hi-Tension, Light of the World and Incognito. Built around Kenny Wellington, Breeze McKrieth, Paul McLean and Patrick McLean, they dig into the deep catalogues of those bands, moving through staples like “Time”, “I’m So Happy”, “London Town”, “Somebody (Help Me Out)” or “British Hustle”, with that tight, live Brit-funk punch.
