Kaleo comes to the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on March 30, 2027 with the Way Down We Go Tour. The Icelandic band, formed in 2012 around Reykjavík, has a sound that lets blues rock, folk and alternative rock glide smoothly into one another. Central to it is the voice of frontman and guitarist Jökull “JJ Julius Son” Júlíusson: raw, direct and built to switch between restrained tension and full-out eruptions.
Since their debut in their home country and the move to the U.S., Kaleo sounds increasingly like a collision between rootsy Americana and tight rock riffs, with room for acoustic ballads and soulful accents. With A/B (2016) the band put itself on the international map, while Surface Sounds (2021) broadened the palette further toward more atmospheric and pop-sensitive details, without losing its sturdy core. Live, that mix works even better: songs that build, break and come back again, carried by a tight-knit band and a frontman who pushes every song forward.
