Info

The Mary Wallopers bring Dundalk’s folk energy to Edinburgh on 13 October 2026 at Edinburgh Corn Exchange. Formed by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy with Sean McKenna, the band first took shape as a bare-bones trio singing old Irish ballads in pubs, driven by close harmonies, a straight-ahead guitar-and-banjo sound and lyrics that mix popular history, dry humour and social snapshots. The lineup has expanded on stage, but the pulse stays close to the session: voices out front, melodies that swing from laments to rowdy choruses, and a feel that travels easily from tavern corner to big room.

Their set draws across their path so far: the early EP A Mouthful of The Mary Wallopers, the self-titled debut, and Irish Rock ’n’ Roll, where reworked tradition sits next to originals cut from the same cloth. From homemade videos to livestreams and tours around Ireland, the UK and Europe, they’ve built a communal way of playing—direct, singable, and rooted in the ballad tradition without treating it like a museum piece.
