Info

Beth Orton brings her blend of folk songwriting and subtle electronics to Rough Trade Bristol on 29 June 2026, celebrating the release of her new album The Ground Above on Partisan Records. An intimate in-store set will be followed by a signing, with new tracks shared alongside key moments from her catalogue.

Since the mid-’90s, the Norfolk-born artist has moved freely between acoustic intimacy and electronic textures. Early collaborations with William Orbit and the Chemical Brothers opened into a personal language where guitar, understated arrangements and a slightly veiled voice meet gentle pulses and atmospheres. Trailer Park and Central Reservation mapped that space, Daybreaker stretched it, then Comfort of Strangers pared things back. Later, Kidsticks and Weather Alive explored new colours while keeping the song at the centre.

On stage, Orton favours clarity over excess: melodies carried by voice and guitar, space left for detail, electronics used as grain rather than gloss. The Ground Above extends that balance; live, these pieces sit naturally beside older songs in a focused set at Rough Trade Bristol.
