Manic Street Preachers

Manic Street Preachers play 3Olympia Theatre, Dublin, on 21 October 2026. Formed in Blackwood, South Wales, in 1986, the band built a sound that fuses punk urgency, glam swagger and post-punk edge with clean, melodic hooks. After early years with lyricist Richey Edwards, whose disappearance in 1995 marked a fault line, James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore carried on as a trio, pushing their writing into a sharper, more expansive alternative rock.

From Generation Terrorists, Gold Against the Soul and The Holy Bible, through the widescreen turns of Everything Must Go and This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours, their catalogue tracks politics, culture and personal fallout with dense, clear-cut wording. Later chapters stretch from Know Your Enemy and Lifeblood to Send Away the Tigers, Journal for Plague Lovers—built from Edwards’ texts—then The Ultra Vivid Lament and Critical Thinking. On stage, the guitars stay taut, choruses land without fuss, and decades of songs sit side by side, held together by a steady Welsh pulse.
