Info
Blanco White is the solo project of London guitarist, singer and songwriter Josh Edwards, where folk songwriting meets flamenco guitar, the Andean charango and a taste for dreamlike imagery. On 19 March 2027 at Royal Festival Hall in London, he brings this hybrid sound to the stage.
Drawn from a young age to the Spanish‑speaking world, Edwards studied Spanish at university before moving to Cádiz to learn flamenco guitar under Nono García. He then travelled to Sucre, Bolivia, to study the charango. Both instruments have since become central to his writing, shaping a sound that folds Iberian harmonies and Latin American timbres into intimate, English‑language songs.
Named in reference to Spanish writer José María Blanco White, the project has evolved steadily since its first releases in 2016. In 2022, Edwards supported José González and Gregory Alan Isakov across the UK and Europe and released the reflective EP Time Can Prove You Wrong, alongside shows at spaces like London’s Barbican, LA’s Troubadour and Amsterdam’s Paradiso. Tarifa (2023), co‑produced with Brazilian musician Pilo Adami, pushed a stronger rhythmic pulse while keeping the reverb‑soaked, mantra‑like colours of earlier work.
On stage, Blanco White threads intricate guitar patterns and charango lines with a measured voice and lyrics that lean toward the surreal, tracing a calm, hypnotic route between cultures.
