Info

The Exploited play The 1865 in Southampton on 20 October 2026. Formed in late‑70s Edinburgh, the band carved a place in the UK82 wave with a raw, fast sound and plain‑spoken lyrics. Led by Wattie Buchan, constant frontman through shifting line‑ups, they fuse street punk urgency with hardcore punch: shouted slogans, razor‑edged riffs, gang vocals, themes that circle unemployment, urban tension and distrust of authority.

Early singles like Army Life and Exploited Barmy Army set the tone before a run of defining records: Punk’s Not Dead (1981) and Troops of Tomorrow (1982), then Let’s Start a War… (1983), Horror Epics (1985) and Death Before Dishonour (1987). In the 90s and 2000s, the band pushed toward crossover thrash on The Massacre, Beat the Bastards and Fuck the System, toughening the guitar bite without dropping the bark and bite of their vocal style.

On stage, The Exploited go straight to the point: tight tempos, call‑and‑response hooks and a set that cuts across decades. A night built on direct hits, noise and momentum at The 1865, with the band’s no‑frills approach driving the room.
