Info
Deaf Havana play Rock City, Nottingham, on 3 November 2026. Formed in 2005 between Hunstanton and King’s Lynn, the band first emerged on the UK post-hardcore circuit: tight dynamics, sharp guitars, and a mix of clean vocals and screams marked their early EP It’s Called the Easy Life (2008) and debut album Meet Me Halfway, at Least (2009). After Ryan Mellor’s departure in 2010, James Veck-Gilodi steered the writing toward a more melodic alternative rock with folk-tinged textures, wider choruses and more introspective lyrics. That shift runs through Fools and Worthless Liars (2011) and Old Souls (2013), then continues with All These Countless Nights (2017) and Rituals (2018), balancing energy with broader arrangements and a pop-aware sense of structure.
Line-up changes followed, and since 2021 Deaf Havana have operated as a duo with brothers James and Matthew Veck-Gilodi. In that configuration they released The Present Is a Foreign Land (2022), then We’re Never Getting Out (2025), extending a move toward direct, personal songwriting without losing the band’s rock backbone. On stage, the duo focus on guitars, clear melodies and inward-looking lyrics, keeping the delivery concise and immediate.
