JJ

On 28 September 2026, JJ will perform at Melkweg in Amsterdam. Behind those initials is Johannes Pietsch, a Viennese singer with Filipino roots who brings pop and classical music together. JJ sings as a countertenor and uses that range for compact, direct songs: pop melodies with an operatic touch, careful attention to phrasing and plenty of space for the voice. Live, the focus is on singing and lyrics, supported by electronic production and a spare ensemble that keeps everything clear and precise.

JJ first came to attention on The Voice UK and in Starmania in Austria, but then built his own path step by step. He received opera training at the Wiener Staatsoper and at the Music and Arts University in Vienna, experiences that can be heard in his songwriting. In 2025 he represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Wasted Love” and won the competition. That was followed by singles such as “Back to Forgetting” and “Haunting Me,” and the EP Into the Unknown in 2026. In Amsterdam he will draw on that repertoire: tight pop forms with a theatrical background and a clear countertenor at the centre.
