Info

Ulrika Spacek is a British experimental rock band from London, known for their blend of jagged guitar textures and dreamlike atmospherics. There's a strange comfort in Ulrika Spacek's dissonance. Since emerging from the shadows of a creaking East London house known only as "KEN", the band has built a reputation for turning existential inertia into sound. Formed in 2014 by Rhys Edwards and Rhys Williams, Ulrika Spacek began as an insular project and has remained self-contained with the addition of Joseph Stone, Callum Brown, Syd Kemp and Rhys Jenkins. Debut album The Album Paranoia (2016) introduced off-kilter melodies and enveloping drones. It was followed by Modern English Decoration (2017), a second LP that pushed their sound into more textural territory. After a period of near silence, they returned in 2024 with Compact Trauma, an album that channeled the anxiety and dislocation of the modern age through a prismatic haze of guitars, loops and elliptical lyrics. The music lives in the space between introspection and abrasion, the melodic and the abstract. With emphasis on sonic experimentation, visual art and immersive live performances, the band make records the way people write journals: privately and obsessively. Fourth album Expo has been released.
