On 2 November 2026 at Bristol Beacon, Bristol, Cat Power marks the 20th anniversary of The Greatest with a live set devoted to the album. Recorded in Memphis with Al Green’s Hi Rhythm Section, The Greatest signalled a shift in Chan Marshall’s songwriting, folding her raw intimacy into a warm, soul‑inflected sound. Two decades later she brings that material back to the stage with Dirty Delta Blues: Judah Bauer (guitar), Gregg Foreman (keys), Erik Paparozzi (bass) and Jim White (drums), a touring band tuned to the record’s swing and late‑night feel.
The concert revisits The Greatest in full, with songs like The Greatest and Lived in Bars at the heart of the set, and folds in new material from her Redux EP. The show leans on restraint and detail: spare phrasing, measured tempos and a voice that carries memory without nostalgia. She performs the album as a complete work, reinterpreted with a band attentive to space and dynamics.
