Info
On 11 September 2026 at Jazz Cafe, London, Mexican Institute of Sound (M.I.S.), the project of Grammy-winning producer Camilo Lara, marks Mexican Independence Day with a live set that blends cumbia, mariachi and cha-cha-cha with sharp electronic production. Lara mines Mexico’s musical memory and flips it for the dancefloor, weaving samples, brass motifs and steady grooves with synths and drum machines, turning classic textures into fresh club momentum.
A pioneer of Mexican electronica, Lara’s work spans Coco, Narcos, Breaking Bad and Grand Theft Auto’s East Los FM, alongside collaborations with Beck, Norah Jones and the Beastie Boys. On stage, that range feeds a focused, high-energy show where tradition and urban electronics meet without losing the pulse.
DJ Gypsy Box opens the night with cumbia-rooted selections and tropical bass to set the tone.
