Info
Wavves bring their California-baked fuzz to Birmingham, taking over the Hare & Hounds on 2 July 2026. Born in San Diego in 2008 around songwriter Nathan Williams, the band first made noise with scrappy home recordings that fused lo-fi abrasion with tuneful, surf-tinged hooks. Those early jolts on Wavves and Wavvves set the pace for a catalogue that tightened the screws without losing the bite: the sun-scorched immediacy of King of the Beach, the punch of Life Sux, the sharpened melodies on Afraid of Heights and V, the candy-coated grit of You’re Welcome, and the more stripped, reflective edges of Hideaway. They also crossed paths with Cloud Nothings for the joint release No Life for Me, a nod to their shared taste for direct, melodic racket.
On stage, Wavves keep it lean and loud: short songs, fuzzy guitars, nervy basslines and choruses that hit straight on. The current lineup — Nathan Williams, Stephen Pope, Alex Gates and Ross Traver — runs through the set at a clip, flipping between garage crunch and power-pop swing with little downtime. Expect a tour of their catalogue, from early lo-fi burners to tighter, hook-forward cuts, with support to set the tone.
