There is spirit and fire in the music of The Zawose Queens. The Tanzanian duo of Leah and Pendo Zawose draws on the Gogo musical tradition to project it into new territories where percussion, polyrhythms, voices and electronics coexist organically.
Heirs to the legacy of the storied Zawose family, their songs combine traditional instruments, hypnotic harmonies and a strong connection to ritual, dance and nature. On Maisha, their debut album, they expand that heritage with a vibrant and deeply contemporary vision.
A live performance suffused with rhythm, trance and collective celebration. They perform on 11 July 2026 at 6:30 PM at Casa Montjuïc.
