Info
On 9 September 2026 at Metronome, Nottingham, Vundabar and Yot Club share the stage, with special guests. Two US projects meet around distinct takes on indie rock and pop, both anchored in tight songwriting and clean, guitar-led textures.
From Boston, Vundabar has built a catalogue that moves between surf edges, post-punk snap and skewed pop, carried by Brandon Hagen’s nasal vocals and sharp guitar lines, with Drew McDonald on drums and a rotating cast on bass. Early records like Antics and Gawk set a raw, immediate tone; Smell Smoke digs into themes of grief, mental health and family dynamics without losing melodic clarity. Either Light broadens the palette with keys and softer textures, while Devil for the Fire leans into darker, nervier contours, playing with tempo breaks and quick shifts. On stage, the core duo keeps it lean and agile, pushing contrasts between tension and release.
Yot Club is the project of Ryan Kaiser, shaped between Mississippi and Nashville, where he started recording solo tracks that blend indie pop, bedroom pop and a light, surf-tinged new wave. Clear, lightly overdriven guitars, simple, repetitive rhythms and a soft, slightly distant voice sketch a melancholic but direct atmosphere. After early online traction, the track YKWIM? widened the audience; the 2022 album off the grid nudges the sound toward brisk tempos and melodic post-punk structures. Live, Yot Club expands to a full band, tightening the groove while keeping songs rooted in everyday scenes, suburban drift and the pull of escape.
