KOKO Electronic: Monkey Project - Rodriguez Jr.

Monkey Project returns to KOKO, London, on 16 May 2026, inviting French producer Rodriguez Jr. for a live set shaped by his blend of deep house, techno and electro-pop. Known offstage as Olivier Mateu and first noticed as half of Montpellier duo The Youngsters on F Communications, he has since carved a solo path across labels like Mobilee, Systematic, Boxer and Leena. His debut album Bittersweet opened a wider horizon between club tracks and more reflective pieces, a balance he’s kept refining release after release.

On stage, Rodriguez Jr. plays live rather than purely DJing, building supple basslines and melodic synth motifs into fluid arrangements that favour texture and harmony as much as propulsion. The result is a set that moves with a steady pulse while opening space for tonal detail, hooks and atmospheric bridges. For Monkey Project’s takeover at KOKO, he returns with material drawn from his catalogue and the studio, delivering a performance tailored to the dancefloor without losing the emotive streak at the core of his sound.
