The Real McKenzies

The Real McKenzies will bring their Celtic punk from Vancouver to the Lido in Berlin on 13 July 2026. Built around singer Paul McKenzie since 1992, the band combines fast punk-rock intensity with traditional Scottish melodies — including bagpipes. Over the years the lineup has changed frequently, with McKenzie remaining the steady axis; the sound is raw, direct and melodic, with choruses that recall pub sing‑alongs and songs about the sea, homeland and new beginnings.

On stage, The Real McKenzies mix their own material with adaptations from the Scottish and Canadian repertoires, and occasionally songs by Stan Rogers. Their discography ranges from the early albums Real McKenzies and Clash of the Tartans to Beer and Loathing and Songs of the Highlands, Songs of the Sea. Live, punchy guitar meets distinctive bagpipe lines, fast tempos give way to sing‑along moments — a set that maps the band across three decades.
