Antony Szmierek

Antony Szmierek brings his hybrid of spoken word, indie pop and electronica to O2 Academy Oxford on 12 October 2026. The Manchester-based musician and writer builds songs around a quick, near-rap delivery and sharply drawn narratives, turning everyday scenes, city nights and intimate portraits into rhythmic pieces with a melodic pull. After sharing early tracks online in the 2020s, he defined his approach on the 2023 EP “Poems To Dance To”: spoken phrasing meeting catchy refrains over electronic grooves that lean toward house or slow-burning hip-hop.

On stage, Szmierek keeps the words up front and the arrangements spacious, whether in a full-band setup or a more stripped-back format. The beats stay direct and the structures simple but worked, giving his storytelling room to rise and fall while keeping the room moving. The result sits between club energy and indie sensibility, focused on momentum, tone and detail, well suited to mid-size venues where proximity with the audience shapes the flow.
