Info

Toots and the Maytals bring the Reggae Got Soul 50th Anniversary Tour (1976–2026) to Electric Ballroom, London, on 13 May 2026. Leba Hibbert steps to the mic to carry her father Toots’s songs into the present, backed by the Maytals’ blend of ska, rocksteady and early reggae.

Born in Kingston in the 1960s, the group cut its teeth at Studio One before shaping a sound steeped in gospel harmonies and soul energy. Their 1968 single Do The Reggay helped popularise the very word reggae, and the run that followed set a lasting frame for Jamaican music. Expect a set built around cornerstone tracks like 54-46 Was My Number, Monkey Man, Pressure Drop, Funky Kingston, Broadway Jungle, Bam Bam, Time Tough and Reggae Got Soul, revisited for a new chapter.

Fronting the current lineup, singer and songwriter Leba Hibbert shares the family DNA while tracing her own path, with releases under her name and collaborations with Sly & Robbie, Jimmy Cliff and more. This tour salutes the songs and the live pulse that continue to drive the Maytals on stage.
