Info
On 17 September 2026, Wembley Arena in London welcomes André Rieu, Dutch violinist and conductor known for shaping a concert format where the Viennese waltz meets light classical music. Born in Maastricht and trained at the conservatories of Liège and Maastricht, he started with a salon ensemble before founding the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987, the core of his musical life ever since. With this large formation, Rieu builds flowing programs that weave Strauss arrangements with operetta highlights, film themes, popular songs and accessible classical pieces. On stage he switches between leading the orchestra and playing as a soloist, leaving generous space for guest singers and choral textures, and keeping a lively dialogue with the audience. His tours and many filmed concerts have taken this approach around Europe, the Americas, Asia and Oceania, refining a concert language that favors melody, rhythm and a festive orchestral sound. At Wembley, expect a set that balances waltz swing, lyrical arias and familiar themes, carried by the warmth and precision of his orchestra.
