Info

Mádé Kuti brings his band to Jazz Cafe, London, on 25 July 2026, carrying forward the Afrobeat legacy of his family while staking out his own space. Son of Femi Kuti and grandson of Fela, he grew up at the New Afrika Shrine and hit the road early with Positive Force. Now a multi-instrumentalist and bandleader, he channels that apprenticeship into a sharp live sound that keeps Afrobeat’s heartbeat steady while opening it to jazz colors and alternative textures.

On stage, Mádé leads a tight ensemble built on interlocking rhythms, warm horns and call-and-response lines that give the songs room to breathe. The set draws from releases like Stand Tall and No More Wars and looks ahead to new material, including I Won’t Run Away, first glimpse of his forthcoming album Chapter 1: Where Does Happiness Come From? It’s music that moves the body and carries a message, driven by groove, craft and a clear point of view. A timely snapshot of modern Afrobeat, up close at Jazz Cafe.
