The Meltdown

Melbourne outfit The Meltdown brings its soul steeped in country, gospel and rhythm and blues to Òran Mór, Glasgow, on 12 November 2026. Centered on singer and keyboardist Simon Burke, the band shapes slow-burning ballads and mid-tempo grooves where a restrained rhythm section leaves space for brass lines, sax and trumpet coloring the melodies without showboating. Emerging on the independent Australian soul scene with HopeStreet Recordings, The Meltdown released a run of singles before a self-titled debut in 2017. That record set the template: 60s-influenced soul feel, touches of Americana, contemporary arrangements and storytelling at the mic. In 2023, It’s A Long Road dug deeper into a melancholic, narrative register, between soul, country-soul and adult pop.
