The Veils

On 1 December 2026, The Veils play at YES, 38 Charles Street, Manchester. Led by New Zealand-born singer and songwriter Finn Andrews, the band formed in London in the early 2000s and has shaped a dark, melodic strain of indie rock, crossed with folk shadings, post-punk tension and a discreet gospel hue. On stage, they shift from stripped-back ballads to sudden surges of noise, with Andrews’ voice and stark storytelling holding the centre.

The set draws across two decades of writing: the nervy guitars and dense arrangements of The Runaway Found (2004) and Nux Vomica (2006); the more reflective turns of Sun Gangs (2009) and Time Stays, We Go (2013); the abrasive experiments of Total Depravity (2016). After a detour through Twin Peaks: The Return in 2017, The Veils resurfaced with …And Out of the Void Came Love (2023), folding lineup changes and pauses into a focused new chapter. In Manchester, expect songs old and new carried by tight dynamics, quiet-loud contrasts and that unmistakable voice at the core.
