Califato ¾

On 27 June 2026 at Jazz Cafe, London, Califato ¾ brings its Andalusian “futuristic folklore” to the stage. Formed in Seville in 2018 out of the Breaking Bass orbit, the group collides local heritage with club culture and live band energy. Nuevo flamenco voices ride on electronics; rumba and copla brush against breakbeat and downtempo; sevillanas and processional marches twist through psych rock riffs. This hybrid has unfolded across L’ambôccá (2018), Puerta de la Cânne (2019), La Contraçeña (2021) and Êcclabô de Libertá (2024).

Califato ¾ treats writing as part of the sound, often adopting Andalusian spelling and idioms as rhythm and texture. The music moves between rock venues and electronic stages, with communal chants, chopped samples and handclap patterns holding the groove. On stage, the project plays like a meeting point: regional traditions plugged into drum machines, guitars and bass pushing against dusty loops, voices rising over percussive cycles. The set traces links between past and present, with no hierarchy between sources.
