Info

The Lemonheads land at O2 Institute Birmingham on 10 October 2026. Formed in Boston in 1986 around Evan Dando, the band shifted from punk and college rock toward a more melodic alternative vein, mixing power pop, jangle guitars, pop-punk and folk accents. Early albums Hate Your Friends, Creator and Lick led to Lovey, then the breakthrough It’s a Shame About Ray, soon followed by their take on Mrs. Robinson. Across constant line-up changes, Dando remained the anchor, with musicians like Juliana Hatfield and Nic Dalton passing through. Come on Feel the Lemonheads sharpened the pop edge; Car Button Cloth dug into a darker mood. After a late-90s pause, the project returned with The Lemonheads in 2006, then explored covers on Varshons and Varshons 2. On stage, the set draws broadly from that catalogue: brisk, chiming songs, louder bursts and quieter acoustic turns, with Dando’s songwriting as the thread. A set shaped by the balance of energy and tunefulness that runs through their work.
