Heaven 17

Heaven 17 head to O2 Academy Liverpool on 22 October 2026. Born in Sheffield from the early split of The Human League, the group built a sharp, electronic pop sound that folds new wave attitude into funk pulse and a touch of soul. Today the project revolves around Glenn Gregory and Martyn Ware, whose partnership anchors a catalogue where drum machines, bold basslines and clean synth lines meet instantly melodic choruses.

From the charged debut single (We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang to the sleek writing of Penthouse and Pavement, the band sketched a blueprint for British synthpop that still resonates live. The Luxury Gap pushed their reach with Temptation, featuring Carol Kenyon, alongside Come Live with Me and Crushed by the Wheels of Industry, before How Men Are and Pleasure One widened the palette. Beyond the albums, Ware’s British Electric Foundation fed a web of collaborations, including work with Tina Turner, that shaped their studio craft.

On stage, Heaven 17 revisit these eras with a tight electronic backbone, rich vocal harmonies and arrangements that keep the dancefloor DNA intact without nostalgia overload. A set that connects four decades of songs to the present, in Liverpool, with Gregory’s baritone and Ware’s synth architecture at the core.
