Empire Of The Sun

Empire Of The Sun bring their dreamlike electro‑pop to The Piece Hall in Halifax on 28 June 2026. Formed in Sydney by Luke Steele (The Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (Pnau), the duo shape synth-driven melodies and direct hooks at the crossroads of synth-pop, indie pop and dance. From Walking on a Dream (2008) to Ice on the Dune (2013) and Two Vines (2016), their records move from glossy electronics toward warmer, more organic textures, before circling back in 2024 with Ask That God, which extends their retro-futurist palette.

On stage, Empire Of The Sun add a strong visual layer: stylised costumes, theatrical tableaux and sci‑fi imagery framing spacious keys and pulsing rhythm tracks. Processed vocals glide over wide, carefully built arrangements, with refrains that open up into airy, beat-led sections. The show rests on the dialogue between image and sound, keeping the pop core intact while pushing production and staging into a singular, cinematic space.
