The Sisters of Mercy

The Sisters of Mercy bring their blend of post-punk, gothic rock and shadowy new wave to Rock City, Nottingham, on 18 September 2026. Formed in Leeds around Andrew Eldritch’s distinct baritone and programmed rhythms, the band traced a singular path through the 80s: from the stark pulse of early singles and the debut album First and Last and Always, to the synth‑laced atmospheres of Floodland, then a more guitar‑driven edge on Vision Thing. Over time, departures and a rotating cast turned the project into a flexible outfit centered on Eldritch, without losing its taste for repetition, tension and hypnotic grooves.

On stage, The Sisters of Mercy operate as a live workshop, reworking staples and weaving in unreleased pieces and new arrangements. The set usually moves between the cold urgency of their post‑punk roots and expansive electronic undertones, with drum machine patterns anchoring guitars and keys.
