Info

Mogwai bring their instrumental craft to The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow, on 20 November 2026. Formed in the mid-90s by Stuart Braithwaite, Dominic Aitchison and Martin Bulloch, later joined by Barry Burns, the Glasgow band helped define a British post-rock approach grounded in space, contrast and patient repetition. On stage, they stretch themes into long arcs, moving from near-silence to saturated guitars, threading minimalist melodies through keys, loops and tight drums.

Across albums like Mogwai Young Team, Come On Die Young, Rock Action, Mr Beast, Rave Tapes and Every Country’s Sun, their sound has shifted toward finely detailed textures and a restrained use of electronics. In parallel, their work for image — including Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, the series Les Revenants and the documentary Atomic — has sharpened their sense for mood and tension.

Live, Mogwai balance heft and hush without theatrics, letting dynamics do the talking more than words. Sets often travel between early landmarks and later material, with occasional nods to their soundtrack work, building crescendos that rise, fade and return, the way only this Glasgow outfit seems to assemble them.
