Yard Act

Yard Act return to their hometown on 7 November 2026 at O2 Academy Leeds. Formed in Leeds around vocalist James Smith and bassist Ryan Needham, the band has been a sharp voice in the UK’s post‑punk revival since 2020. Their songs balance dry, talk-sung storytelling with tight, bass-led grooves and clipped guitar lines, sketching everyday characters and social snapshots with a mix of irony and plainspoken detail.

Those early singles opened the door to The Overload in 2022, a debut that pinned contemporary Britain with satirical bite while keeping the rhythm section front and center. On stage, Smith’s spoken narratives and quick turns of phrase run against Needham’s steady pulse, drums that push forward, and guitars that cut in short bursts. The live show threads early tracks with pieces from The Overload and newer material, keeping the tension between humor and disillusion while locking into choruses that land as chants more than sing-alongs.

Back in Leeds, Yard Act play it direct and unfussy, leaning on precision, momentum and a clear sense of story.
