Fred Falke

On May 15 at Slakthuset in Stockholm, French house mainstay Fred Falke steps in with a DJ set powered by live bass. Expect a dancefloor threaded with sleek melodies, rubbery low end and a back-and-forth between disco, funk and house shaped by years behind the decks. A bassist by training, Falke moved into production in the late 90s and quickly became tied to the French touch sound. His early work with Alan Braxe on the Vulture label yielded the classic Intro, a track that still echoes through his selections. Since then he’s signed a steady run of releases and remixes across pop and electronic projects, joined the UK production collective Xenomania, and released his solo album Part IV in 2011. On stage, he stitches warm harmonies to punchy rhythms, with live bass lines giving his selections extra swing. The result is a clear, groove-led journey that connects French house roots with a contemporary edge.
