Info
Formed online in 2021 by four singers based in different countries, The Wellermen first took shape in the wake of TikTok’s sea shanty wave before widening their scope into broader vocal folk. On 10 July 2026 at Whelan’s, 25 Wexford Street, Dublin 2, Ireland, the quartet leans into tight harmonies, ensemble phrasing and storytelling drawn from shanties, Anglo‑Celtic traditionals and stripped‑back reinterpretations. Their acoustic approach sits somewhere between British folklore, popular ballad and contemporary choral work, with arrangements that can stay close to the source or open to more current writing. After an entirely digital rise, The Wellermen have brought that collective format to the stage while keeping a strong connection with their online community, continuing to shape pieces through layered voices. The project is now moving toward more personal material and original songs, without stepping away from the narrative threads and choral textures that have defined it since the beginning.
