Info

The Twilight Sad brings its stark, melodic noise to Button Factory in Dublin on 9 May 2026. Formed in Kilsyth, Scotland, the band revolves around James Graham and Andy MacFarlane, shaping an indie sound that threads post-punk, shoegaze and a darker electronic pulse. Early records like Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters (2007) and Forget the Night Ahead (2009) leaned on saturated guitars and stormy dynamics; No One Can Ever Know (2012) pushed synth textures forward, a path refined on Nobody Wants to Be Here and Nobody Wants to Leave (2014) and the Rock Action release It Won/t Be Like This All the Time (2019).

On stage, The Twilight Sad builds dense layers of guitars and keys around Graham’s distinctive Scottish vocal phrasing, shifting from hushed tension to surges of noise. Years spent across UK, European and North American circuits, and runs with Mogwai and The Cure, have shaped a live approach that balances heft and melody without smoothing the edges. In Dublin, the band moves through its catalogue, from early bruised anthems to more synth-driven cuts, keeping weight and melody in close orbit.
