Aldous Harding

Aldous Harding plays Vicar Street, Dublin, on 5 June 2026. The New Zealand songwriter from Lyttelton has, since the early 2010s, shaped a body of work that moves from spare folk to intimate, slightly off‑centre pop. Her self-titled debut in 2014 set the tone with slow, acoustic pieces and a bare vocal register. Signing to 4AD, she recorded Party in 2017 with producer John Parish, opening the frame to keys, discreet arrangements and a focused play on shifting voices. Designer (2019) and Warm Chris (2022) pushed further into chamber-pop contours while keeping a clear folk backbone.

On stage, Harding leans into elliptical lyrics, theatrical phrasing and minimalist atmospheres. She plays solo or with a small band, switching between guitar and piano, letting changes in timbre and register carry the songs rather than volume. This Vicar Street date brings that approach into focus, with a set that can thread early acoustic material and the more sinuous melodies of her recent records.
