Brazen Barbie

Kenyan-Australian, Perth-via-Melbourne artist Brazen Barbie is a musician. Her strong voice and bold lyricism have found a place in a growing scene of emerging Australian R&B and hip-hop. From thoughts to pen, Brazen Barbie has released a series of tracks over the course of her career, showing rawness from the heart and mind.

Brazen’s music journey started in primary school, where early interests in cello and singing continued into her teens. Her path draws on influences including rapper Gangsta Boo and crunk artist Duke Deuce, with an approach that is her own. In tracks like Check and Don't Talk, braggadocious bars act as declarations of confidence, independence and femininity. Playful punchlines balance a rougher lyricism, showing different layers of her writing. Brazen Barbie’s attitude, drive and direct approach to her art shape her identity.

She has played Sydney Fringe Festival, BIGSOUND, SXSW and Promiseland, and was inducted into the Acclaim Magazine All Stars Class of 2024. She has discussed her influences in an interview on Sydney community radio station FBi Radio, and continues to develop her path in hip-hop, rap and R&B.
