Foy Vance

On 8 September 2026, Foy Vance will perform at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. Raised between Northern Ireland and the American South, he writes songs at the crossroads of British folk and American soul and gospel. In the early 2000s he emerged on the acoustic scene with direct guitar work and a weathered voice. His debut, Hope, was released in 2007, followed by Joy of Nothing (2013), where his arrangements grew more expansive. With The Wild Swan (2016), released on Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man Records, he broadened his palette further. In 2019, From Muscle Shoals and To Memphis delved deeper into Americana and southern soul; Signs of Life (2021) again sought a balance between introspective ballads, roots influences and melodic pop.

Alongside his own material, Vance co-writes for other artists and has frequently served as a support act on major tours, which has honed his live approach. On stage, it’s about narrative songs that are raw and warm at once, shifting from intimate to full-bodied without fuss. Expect a set in which lyrics and melodies set the course, with room for silence, dynamics, and that unmistakable voice that carries his stories.
