Lucinda Williams

Lucinda Williams will perform on September 9, 2026 at TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, she was raised on poetry and the sounds of the American South—elements that clearly color her narrative songs. She moves effortlessly between country, folk, blues, rock and Americana, with a raw voice and a straightforward writing style that speaks of roads, places and everyday lives. Since the late 1970s she has steadily built a distinctive repertoire: from “Ramblin’ on My Mind” and “Happy Woman Blues” to the self-titled Lucinda Williams and Sweet Old World, via the landmark album Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, and on through Essence, World Without Tears, West, Blessed, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, The Ghosts of Highway 20, Good Souls Better Angels and the recent Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart. Her songs have also resonated with and been recorded by others, including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Patty Loveless, Emmylou Harris and Tom Petty. In Utrecht she brings that mix of roots rock and intimate ballads, with stories that resonate immediately.
