Formed in Kansas City in 1995, the band shaped a lean mix of emo, melodic punk and indie rock: urgent guitars, clear vocal hooks and lyrics that face up to growing up, family and relationships. Expect a set that moves from the raw spark of Four Minute Mile to the chorus-led drive of Something to Write Home About, through the more reflective turns of On a Wire and Guilt Show, and toward recent material from Problems. Matt Pryor’s voice out front, Jim Suptic’s guitar interplay, the Pope brothers holding down the rhythm, and James Dewees on keys give the songs their balance between tension and melody, noise and space — a sound made for live rooms and shared refrains.
