Info
On April 24, 2026, Caifanes arrives at Luz de Gas in Barcelona. Formed in Mexico City in the late 1980s, the band blends alternative rock, new wave and post‑punk with references to Mexican tradition. Saúl Hernández’s voice and Alfonso André’s drumming underpin a sound of taut guitars, pulsing ’80s‑style keyboards and Spanish lyrics full of urban and mystical imagery.
Live, Caifanes typically revisit different stages of their history: the self‑titled debut of 1988; El Diablito (1990), with its contrasts between electric passages and more psychedelic stretches; El silencio (1992), featuring direct melodies and roots‑based rhythms; and El nervio del volcán (1994), sonically more upfront without losing its melodic line. Reunited since the 2010s around the Hernández–André tandem, they continue to perform in Mexico, the United States and across Latin America. In Barcelona they arrive with a repertoire that revisits those phases and with arrangements that preserve the group’s essence.
