Info
The Divine Comedy plays Vega, Copenhagen, on 22 March 2026. Led by Northern Irish songwriter Neil Hannon, the group has been shaping a distinctive chamber-pop since the late 80s, blending orchestral arrangements, piano, British pop craft and a dry sense of humour. Early albums Liberation and Promenade set the tone with strings and literary detours; Casanova and Fin de Siècle carried that voice through the Britpop years with a more theatrical edge. In the 2000s, Regeneration pared things back before Absent Friends and Victory for the Comic Muse brought arrangements to the fore again. More recently, Bang Goes the Knighthood, Foreverland and Office Politics kept the mix of gentle social satire, everyday scenes and soft melancholy at the centre of Hannon’s writing.
On stage, The Divine Comedy revolves around Hannon and a flexible band that can expand to include strings. The set moves between intimate storytelling and widescreen pop, drawing across three decades of songs and highlighting the careful arrangements, piano figures and lyrical detail that define the project’s live identity.
