Shaggy

Shaggy hits Royal Stage in Hillerød, Denmark, on June 20, 2026. Born in Kingston and shaped by New York’s dancehall scene, Orville “Shaggy” Burrell built his style on a deep-toned flow and Jamaican deejay phrasing. He broke through in the early 90s with Oh Carolina, then pushed a crossover reggae sound that threads digital riddims, R&B grooves and pop hooks.

Through the 90s and 2000s, he stacked tracks that stuck, from Boombastic to the Hot Shot era with It Wasn’t Me and Angel, followed by albums like Lucky Day, Clothes Drop and Intoxication. The 2010s opened new lanes: the joint project 44/876 with Sting in 2018, then Wah Gwaan?!, the island-seasoned Christmas in the Islands and In the Mood in 2023, where soca energy sits alongside modern dancehall and reggae.

On stage, Shaggy navigates party-starters and slower, melodic cuts, leaning on call-and-response dynamics, sung refrains and regular drops into patois. Expect a set that connects the early dancehall hits with newer material, switching gears between bounce and laid-back sway while keeping his gravelly tone front and center.
