Kaizers Orchestra

Kaizers Orchestra is coming to Amsterdam: on 2 October 2026 the Norwegian outfit will play at Melkweg. Around singer and guitarist Janove Ottesen, the band built its own universe in Bryne in the late 1990s: alternative rock sung in Norwegian, driven by electric tension, fanfare-like rhythms and a touch of dark cabaret. Their songs tell stories about mafia families, soldiers and fringe characters, with choruses that invite chanting and driving patterns that push forward.

Their breakthrough came with Ompa til du dør (2001), followed by Evig pint (2003) and the more orchestrated Maestro (2005). With Maskineri (2008) and Våre demoner (2009) the sound moved toward more direct rock, without abandoning its repetitive motorik. In 2011–2012 they unveiled the Violeta Violeta trilogy, a rock-opera-like project with a continuous narrative that carved out a distinctive place in their repertoire.

After a farewell tour and a hiatus in 2013, the group reunited in the 2020s and returned to the stage. Live, Kaizers Orchestra draws on their entire timeline: from the early ompa-driven numbers to the dramatic lines of Violeta Violeta, performed in Norwegian and with the cinematic flair that carries their songs.
