Eric Steckel

On 16 September 2026 Eric Steckel will play at Patronaat in Haarlem. The guitarist and singer from Pennsylvania built an early reputation on the American blues-rock scene, performing everywhere from small clubs to larger venues. His playing is firmly rooted in electric blues and southern rock: dense riffs, a massive guitar tone and a low, direct vocal line. Since his teens he has written and recorded his own material alongside arrangements of blues classics, gradually steering his repertoire toward a modern blues infused with soul and hard rock accents.

Live, Steckel usually performs in a power trio. That format allows him to stretch instrumental passages and make room for improvisation without abandoning simple, song-focused structures. On stage the emphasis is on groove, dynamics and a guitar that takes the lead without getting lost in effects. European tours regularly bring him back to the Netherlands; in Haarlem he will present a selection from his independent releases, supplemented by carefully chosen standards.
