Info

On 18 May 2026 Marcos Valle will perform at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. The pianist, singer and composer born in Rio de Janeiro has been contributing to the history of bossa nova and MPB since the 1960s. His breakthrough came with "Samba de Verão", written with his brother Paulo Sérgio. He followed this with records such as "Samba Demais" and "O Compositor e o Cantor", in which bossa, samba and jazz harmonies converge.

In the late 1960s and 1970s Valle broadened his sound with rock, soul and funk on albums like "Viola Enluarada" and "Previsão do Tempo", while also composing music for television and film. From the 1990s he reconnected with club culture and acid jazz through "Nova Bossa Nova", a thread he has continued into more recent work such as "Sempre".

Live, that entire range comes together: intimate bossa, warmly grooving samba, keyboards that lean toward jazz fusion, and arrangements with a tight pulse. The concert in Utrecht highlights his classics alongside newer songs, with space for instrumental passages and the stories behind the tracks. An evening centered on a songwriter who audibly bridges tradition and contemporary influences.
