MARO

On 16 March 2026 MARO will perform at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. The Portuguese singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mariana Secca moves between pop, folk and soul, with influences from jazz and the Lusophone tradition. Live, she places the focus on layered vocal harmonies, acoustic textures and melodies that land immediately. Songs unfold around guitar and voice, sometimes almost a cappella, sometimes with subtle, stripped-down arrangements that leave room for breath and detail.

After her years at Berklee and the trilogy MARO, Vol. 1–3 (2018), she developed a bilingual repertoire in Portuguese and English, in which intimate ballads alternate with more vocally driven compositions. In 2022 she represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Saudade, saudade,” which broadened her reach without losing the core of her songwriting.

On stage MARO shifts between whisper-soft intimacy and rhythmic, percussive guitar playing, with close attention to dynamics and vocal interplay. Expect a set that reinterprets her studio work on the spot: close, melody-driven and carried by harmonies that draw the audience in, somewhere between the intimacy of a living room and the openness of pop.
